Mozilla Firefox is
No Longer Supported
Baldwin County Communication & Information Systems (CIS) is officially ending support for Mozilla Firefox across all county-managed devices. To ensure compatibility, security, and a consistent experience with county systems and applications, Firefox will be removed and replaced with approved browsers.
from all county devices on October 1, 2026
The primary recommended browser for Baldwin County employees. Built on the same Chromium engine as Chrome, Edge integrates seamlessly with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and county enterprise tools.
- Full Microsoft 365 & SharePoint integration
- Enterprise-grade security & policy management
- Managed and updated by CIS via Group Policy
- Compatibility with all county web applications
Also fully supported for county use. Google Chrome offers excellent compatibility with web-based applications and productivity tools used across Baldwin County departments.
- Wide compatibility with modern web applications
- Robust security with automatic updates
- Supported by CIS on county-managed devices
- Available as an alternative to Microsoft Edge
Mozilla Firefox does not align with Baldwin County's enterprise browser management policies and lacks native integration with county IT infrastructure, including Microsoft 365, Group Policy controls, and centralized security monitoring. Continuing its use creates security and compliance risks.
Before Firefox is uninstalled, you can export your bookmarks and import them into Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome. CIS is available to assist with this process. Contact the Help Desk for step-by-step guidance or a scheduled migration session.
